Mais detalhes

CLIL & Bilingual Education is a module of the TTC program that provides an overview of the key principles of bilingual education and CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning). The module explores how teachers can integrate content and language objectives to create meaningful learning experiences in bilingual and multilingual contexts.

Delivered over 30 hours from October to December, with remote sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00 to 8:15 p.m., the module combines theoretical foundations with practical activities involving lesson planning, materials adaptation, classroom interaction, and assessment.

Scope of the module
- Core concepts in bilingualism and bilingual education
- Principles and foundations of CLIL
- Integration of content and language objectives
- The role of cognition in content and language learning
- CLIL lesson planning and classroom strategies
- Selection and adaptation of teaching materials
- Assessment of content and language learning
- Scaffolding strategies to support learners

Rather than treating bilingual education simply as teaching subjects in English, CLIL & Bilingual Education encourages participants to understand how language supports learning and how content and language development can be intentionally integrated. The module promotes informed pedagogical decision-making based on research and international models, while encouraging participants to reflect critically on different bilingual education practices and contexts.

Outcomes
By the end of the module, participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the foundations of bilingual education and CLIL
- Analyze different models of bilingual education and their objectives
- Plan lessons that intentionally integrate content and language
- Adapt materials and activities for different learning contexts
- Use scaffolding strategies to support student learning
- Design assessments aligned with content and language objectives
- Build a repertoire of resources for immediate classroom application

CLIL & Bilingual Education equips English teachers, subject teachers, and educators working or interested in bilingual and international education with practical knowledge and strategies for integrating content and language learning. Through analysis, planning, materials adaptation, and the development of a professional portfolio, participants strengthen their ability to apply CLIL principles across different educational contexts.
